Been here a few times. Absolutely love the small town eatery feel of the Wooden Nickel! Having the outdoor enclosed seating is a bonus, along with the bar that has electric outlets under it so you can charge your phone or computer while having a working lunch. Food is fantastic, along with the prices. Highly recommend the Taco Tuesday chicken soft tacos. YUM!

This was a nice surprise! I had the BLT Sandwich and my Hubs had the beef Sandwich. They were AWESOME! And I'm super picky. My husband and I are in Sales and Service and have been for 30 years. Best service at any restaurant. We walked in and 3 different people at 3 different times yelled out Welcome and where to sit and were smiling and friendly and made us feel completely welcome and comfortable. Every restaurant should take tips from the environment The Wooden Nickel has created. It really does make a difference in your food experience when people are kind and welcoming and happy at their job. Will stop here every time we come through St Louis for travel.

Saw the 4 star overall rating while looking for a place with relaxing atmosphere to have lunch with my husband.  The atmosphere is relaxing, casual, just what I wanted.  There is a covered patio with a view of Main Street and an open patio in the back.  The server was a "meets expectations" server.  I'm fine with that.  I ordered the lobster rangoon and Strongbow Cider, hubby ordered pretzel bites and Blue Moon.  Bummed that neither are on tap.  The tap selection is small.  Hubby gave his appetizer a 3 and his beer a 2.5.  He really likes his Blue Moon on draft.  I gave my appetizer a 4 and cider a 3.  Order the Lobster Rangoon and an adult beverage and chill with your friends.

Pretty disappointed that the website states they have a late night menu after 9pm. Stopped in to get something quick, was told the grill was closed. Please update the website, wasted a trip out here.

We are traveling to Indy 500 and found the Wooden Nickel on yelp and glad we did. Very good food and adult beverages.  The service was very friendly and we got our drinks and food very quickly.  We would be sure to stop by again as we are passing through

Stopped in today on the suggestion of and with a friend we just rode the MCT trails with.  We beat a downpour by 10 minutes....winna winna. Our table got a burger, buffalo chicken wrap, BLT and onion ring appetizer to share. All the food arrived in decent time (we were hungry and right as we started looking around for it, so maybe quick...didn't time it.) Yes I am a fan, we will likely be back.  The WNP&G (military can't help it) could offer some lessons to a few local places that don't get the things right that will keep them in business after the "new" wears off.  I'll list a few that matter to me, that this place nails.1. Treat me like you are glad I came to your place.2. Pleasant, efficient server (right amount of attention).3. Simple menu with simple things that you do well. (I hate being given a book with 50 over wrought Food Network wanna be choices)4. Fair prices (we had the above, 2 beers for ,including tip)5. Thank me for coming. (Apu gets it)...

We ate at the Wooden Nickel on a Wednesday night. My husband got the wings and I got the buffalo chicken wrap! We had fried pickles as an appetizer. We fell in love with this place right away! The food, service, and atmosphere was amazing!

Great place to grab a quick bite to eat and a cocktail. Fast, friendly service. Accepts cards. Sandwiches are under , sides are .49 & under. I had the Frisco Melt and fries; which, was better than Steak 'n Shake. My rating 3/3 stars.

Good food, good beer, & nice eye candy. What more can you ask for in small town America?

Excellent Taco Tuesday's, lunch specials and a fun and lively staff.  Large variety of draft and bottled beers.  They really excel at running a pub and the place is always packed!

Decent food but they don't have high chairs. I guess they are trying to be more of an adult restaurant, but it wouldn't hurt to buy a couple of high chairs. Food is good, the sauce on the nachos was too sweet for me but that's just personal preference.

The little things really do count.  The waitress brought extra napkins with the silverware.  Without being asked!  Nice!!!  I ordered the Asian Pork Wrap, 'cause that's how I roll... and it was EXCELLENT.  A great mix of flavors and textures.  Definitely want to get back here to try other things!

This is a great place to eat either with friends or with the family. The fried fish has this delicious, perfectly seasoned cornmeal crust (although the tartar sauce isn't great), and I get it every home we go. I upgrade one of my sides four a side salad with ranch; their ranch is really yummy, too. The hubby has had four different dishes and has loved them all, noting that the barbeque sauce is delicious. The fries are great, too. Everything has been above average except for that tartar sauce. I haven't had their alcoholic drinks yet, as so far I've only been there with my husband and daughter. I really like the front patio. It's open in the summer, and in the winter they enclose it and add space heaters; you don't even need a jacket.

I have been here numerous times over the years and have never had a bad experience.  Food is always excellent and the staff is super friendly.

Went there for lunch for a first time.  Ordered the Chicken Nachos appetizer.   Wow the amount you get could feed 4 people generously.  They could use more staff but the food was amazing.

I have had good and bad experiences here. Very clean place, favorite day to go is on taco Tuesday. Their tacos are delicious! Yet, one time my friend paid for a song on the iTunes jukebox and the bartender turned the song, along with multiple other songs customers had paid for. Not cool.

First time here. Good atmosphere-the gas flame heaters are a nice touch. One patio is tented and several people were able to sit out there on 20 degree weather. Hubby got the nachos and I got the chicken sandwich. The nachos are HUGE. Drizzled with some BBQ sauce which was a little sweet for my taste. The waitress kept the beers coming, and they were nice and cold. Will be back!

I stopped in on a Saturday for lunch while in the area and I have to admit that I was pretty impressed with the Wooden Nickel Pub & Grill, overall the experience was good seating is mostly limited to high-top tables, with only a handful of regular tables inside. Overall the food options were very limited, sticking with mostly sandwiches and wings, however the options were solid. As far as the food goes I went with the Chipotle Chicken Sandwich, served with Sweet Potato Fries. The sandwich was good however the chicken breast itself was rather small, the fries were tasty. I was able to sample a bit of the fish and it was very good and extremely reasonable price, it was less than and served with slaw. Overall this is a great option for historic downtown Glen Carbon, however I have a feeling that after hours  the crowd shifts to a more loud atmosphere.

Are you silly? The Wooden Nickel Pub and Grill is your Glen Carbon neighborhood destination when sending it. I would recommend to anyone on a good day to come down to the Nickel and send it either inside or on the patio.Also. Jessica.

This place is always going to be my go to! The staff is so fun and friendly! They're always ready to crack a joke while taking wonderful care of guests. The menu has a great variety of choices for everyone. Their appetizers range from fried pickles to shrimp skewers and the infamous nickel nachos! My personal favorite is the lobster rangoon or the guacamole bites. They also have some great sandwiches and wraps to choose from as well. Their classic burger is out of this world. This place isn't just standard pub food! They take pub food to the next level. They've got awesome wings (try the dry rub and thank me later). They have a full bar, about 6 beers on tap, and countless domestic and craft beers in bottles. Their wine list has grown considerably and they carry some really great options! The bartenders do a great job tending to bar guests and getting drinks out quickly for the rest of the restaurant. I really can't say enough good things about this place. Make sure to check out some of their specials if you're in the area- taco Tuesday, smoking Thursday etc.
